Guangzhou and nearby

Went boating on the Pearl River in Guangzhou yesterday evening, very pretty.

Today we went a bit further afield (3 hours and 3 bus rides into the countryside) to go to something. We got there and found that because of the recent rain, whatever it was was shut! But luckily some local people took our money and drove us round the back way - although we had to climb a mountain to get there! It was good fun though, about 800 meters up along a stairway next to a water pipe (secret way up, apparently!). The Chinese couple that came with us gave up, too much effort, but we persevered, and got some nice photos on the way up:

We finally got to the top and discovered that it was a waterfall and revervoir, and it certainly was very nice and a fun day out. Got back to Guangzhou quite late, so that's it for today (after dinner, of course).

Guangzhou

Arrived in Guangzhou, its like I've never been away! Hot but not too hot so far, lots of food. Went to see a few things today, a monument to Sun Yat-Sen and various parks. Going to the river tonight and shoppingtomorrow!
