More Wednesday night activity

Again last night I went to the expat mixer event followed by Zapatas, thoroughly entertaining! Remembered my camera this week so have some photographic evidence.


Every wednesday Shanghai Expat website runs an event on the top floor of Malones american bar in central Shanghai for expats to meet each other. No-one really knows anyone so it's cool to just get chatting to anyone who's about, which is nice. Also, they do free finger food!

Zapata's!! Wednesday is ladies night, free cocktails for girls until midnight (sadly we turned up *just* too late for Toshiba to take advantage. Interestingly, they have a similar event on mondays for guys between 10 and 11-free flowing carlsberg! You just know in the UK that wouldn't be a profitable business strategy...), lots of music, and a ladder up to the bar for dancing on it! A closer look at the photo will reveal that clearly not everyone in Shanghai has heard of my blog and the golden rule is still a well kept secret... :(. The sunglasses in a nightclub look is also strictly optional

A Night Out...

Last night I had my first night out in Shanghai, with an American chap called Kenny and a few girls who, all of whom met on one of the Shanghai expat websites (I prmised myself I wasn't going to go out of my way to meet foreigners, and the promise lasted over two weeks, so I tried! Unfortunatly the students here just don't have the inclination or spending power to go into town at night, so I really had no choice).

We went to a pub that has an expat mixer event every Wednesday on the top floor and followed it with a salsa bar/club in the French Concession.

Lots of interesting things happened but I'm still digesting the experience, Seigo and Jono are in town for a few days from later today and then Kenny and I and a few others are going out again on Saturday, so expect a longer entry about in near future!
